Solar panel specialist Solarlec is promoting its growing presence in the education sector at two key national conferences.

Based in Burnley and with showrooms in Exeter and Carlisle, Solarlec is the official partner to the ‘Power to the Pupils’ programme launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Department for Education.

It aims to bring solar power to schools throughout the UK while ensuring that they receive the highest quality systems and standard of installation, carried out by approved installers. There are also financial solutions available so that schools can avoid a significant upfront cost for the systems they install.

Solarlec, a BPVA ‘Rated Solar Installer’, will also work with schools to maintain and monitor their systems, ensuring they deliver optimum performance and financial return, both by slashing conventional energy bills and earning ‘cashback’ through the Government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme.

In July Solarlec will take part in the National Sustainable Schools Conference, taking place at the University of Bristol. With 16 workshops throughout the day, it will focus on all aspects of sustainability for ‘eco schools’, including the benefits of solar power, both financial and environmental.

Later this year, Solarlec will also take part in The Academies Show, a national conference taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on November 25th. It is the largest UK event dedicated to the academies agenda, bringing together thousands of headteachers, school business managers, bursars, governors, and more, with more than 200 leading education suppliers.

Solarlec regional manager David Hall commented: “Schools and colleges tend to have large roof areas which, by installing solar panels, can be put to work cutting their energy bills and earning a tax-free income for every unit of electricity they produce.

“We have already completed several school installations across the UK and have more orders coming through all the time. But as well as realising the financial benefits, most schools are committed to the environment and sustainable sources of energy. The feedback we’ve received from schools where we’ve fitted solar systems has been excellent.”
