Powerstar has launched a new Performance Inspection Service as part of a growing portfolio of services. With over thirteen years experience developing and manufacturing energy saving solutions, the Powerstar technical team is using its expertise to the benefit of both existing and new customers.

As part of the new Performance Inspection Service, Powerstar engineers will carry out a thorough examination of the onsite HV/LV transformer compound and associated equipment. The visit will also include an inspection of the LV main distribution panel.

An integral part of the inspection is a thermal survey, which involves providing thermal images of the relevant equipment and cables. Once completed customers will receive a full report outlining details of the inspection performed, findings, recommendations, options to further enhance energy savings and an oil analysis if applicable.

The introduction of the new service follows the recent launch of a new Power Quality Audit service, which provides an audit to identify problems, suggest solutions and commission the installation of effective equipment to rectify any issues identified. Power quality is a growing concern for many organisations, with issues including harmonics, power spikes, electromagnetic interference, poor grounding, bonding, swells, sags and momentary outages becoming increasingly common. Electricity at Work regulations requires ‘all transformer systems to be maintained, so as to prevent danger’. HSE guidance states ‘regular inspection and testing is an essential part of any maintenance programme’.

Powerstar managing director Dr Alex Mardapittas said, “Whilst Powerstar solutions are maintenance free, we are receiving an increasing number of requests from customers for Performance Inspection Surveys. We are using our extremely experienced technical team, with long established, renowned capabilities, to meet this demand. Organisations, both private and public, can quickly reap the benefits from a Powerstar Performance Inspection Survey.”
