As a result of the increasingly common uptake of metering technologies among businesses and homeowners across the UK, Navitron has partnered with leading smart developer, Orsis, to provide a complete remote monitoring and reactive maintenance solution of PV owners.

Stephen Knight, commercial director at Navitron, said: “The installation of remote monitoring is a trend that is steadily picking up steam within the renewable technology industry – which is why we decided to form a partnership with one of the most pioneering and reliable providers of metering and monitoring equipment.

“Orsis has a reputation for developing highly intuitive, multi-utility products, so joining forces with such a reputable name was a no-brainer for us.”

Established in 2006, Orsis are part of the Revenco Group and provide a range of multi-technology metering solutions, along with an innovative and easy-to-use micro-generation monitoring platform, called the Sunrise Portal. This allows users to view generation figures, Feed-In Tariff revenue earned and CO2 savings with the click of a mouse.

One of the first buildings to benefit from the Navitron-Orsis partnership is East Midlands school, the George Spencer Academy. Following the installation of a 30kWp solar PV system on its sports hall, the Nottingham-based academy decided that a monitoring and maintenance package was necessary to maximise performance and preserve the integrity of their new system.

As a result, George Spencer Academy purchased a five-year Navitron Remote Monitoring & Reactive Maintenance package that not only includes Orsis monitoring technology and guarantees that the school’s PV system is working at all times, but also identifies if the system is switched off or underperforming.

Gareth Chantler, business development manager for Orsis (UK), commented: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Navitron on remote monitoring projects, such as Black Sluice.

“Navitron is one of the most respected and longest established renewable energy companies in the UK, and I am sure that this partnership will benefit a vast number of property owners who have invested in PV by maximising their overall system performance”.

Stephen Knight continued: “Our packages are specifically created for schools or organisations with multiple systems installed, as it’s best to have someone working to keep track of all the panels, how they’re performing and if there are any issues.

“Without remote monitoring, PV systems are usually only looked at to read the generation meters once per quarter, so a system could be switched off or underperforming for three months before anyone notices, which is definitely not ideal because, for larger systems, that could mean the loss of nearly £2,000 in revenue due to faults that could have been found otherwise.”

Navitron offers a wide range of renewable technology solutions from the world’s top manufacturers, all installed by highly-trained and Microgeneration Certification Scheme accredited installers – meaning installations are eligible to earn government incentives through the RHI and Feed-In Tariff.
