Global construction machinery manufacturer John Deere has teamed up with Vickers Energy Group to reduce oil consumption at its Nottingham site by £8,625, following its commitment to a strategy to tackle its carbon emissions.
The company pledged to reduce its carbon emissions by 25% per dollar of revenue by 2014 and has seen huge success from its commitment so far.
Teaming up with Vickers Energy Group to install an advanced energy management system at its Nottingham site to control two Dravo Air Handling Units resulted in a huge energy reduction of 34% on the previous consumption in its first year.
The system uses sophisticated self-learning technology to regulate and monitor temperature throughout the buildings, meaning the units now work to their full efficiency, minimising any unnecessary wastage.
John Curzon, Facilities Manager at John Deere, said: “Vickers delivered above and beyond our expectations, originally guaranteeing a 20% reduction in our oil consumptions with a return on investment in 11 months, in fact, within our first 12 months of installation we reduced our oil consumption by an additional 14% and our return on investment was reduced to just six months. Furthermore, solely from the installation, we’ve reduced our carbon emissions by 379 tonnes.”

Vickers has recently been awarded with the accolades of Energy Product of the Year from the prestigious Environment and Energy Awards 2014, a Gold Green Apple Award within their Energy Saving Category, Green Business of the Year at the Trafford Business Awards and is accredited by the Carbon Trust.
