As part of the Government’s Energy Efficiency Strategy ESOS auditors are tasked with finding significant areas of energy use and opportunities to reduce energy. To help them, specialists in optimising energy efficiency and resilience for critical cooling and refrigeration systems, Excalibur Energy, have announced a new service aimed at identifying improved efficiency in datacenter cooling, air conditioning and refrigeration.

Called ‘Chiller Check’, the service includes a full performance and optimisation report to help auditors understand the possible savings. Upon receipt of basic survey information, Excalibur can quantify the existing energy consumption and efficiency of a chiller, associated fans and pumps and, from this same information, can calculate the potential to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

As part of the service, Excalibur will give an accurate turnkey cost for completing the project to demonstrate its viability. The resulting report will allow an ESOS auditor to see if there is a major opportunity to reduce energy consumption and make recommendations based on an accurate return on investment.

Gareth Holden, MD of Excalibur Energy said: “We have over 25 years’ experience of improving the efficiency of air conditioning and process cooling, and believe we can add real value to an ESOS Assessment for organisations looking to reduce energy consumption and improve their carbon footprint.  From a desktop report we can identify the most cost effective energy efficiency improvements and produce a business case for the auditor to show potential cost reductions available.”

Excalibur Energy works with facilities management and energy consultants to optimise the efficiency of chillers, cooling and refrigeration systems using a combination of the latest technology high-efficiency EC fans, Inverter control, advanced condenser cleaning regimes and other technologies. Excalibur typically reduces energy consumption by 25-30%.
