The Facilities Show 2013 will this year address the most pressing issues around driving down energy costs and the need to engage the workforce in energy efficiency measures in the Energy Management Theatre
With the UK energy regulator Ofgem reporting at the end of 2012 that Britain risks running out of its energy capacity margin in the winter of 2015/16 (in its first annual Electricity Capacity Assessment), the need for a strategic energy efficiency plan has never been more apparent for businesses.
Taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 14-16th May in association with British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), Facilities Show 2013 will build on the growth from the 2012 show which saw an increase of 26.8% in visitor numbers and a 24.1% increase in exhibitors.
Covering all aspects of FM, Facilities Show welcomes everything from FM solutions, business continuity, leadership and strategy, operations, environmental sustainability, finance, technology and best practice.
The curtain goes up
One of the highlights of the show will be the Energy Management Theatre, offering a full programme across the three days dedicated to helping FM professionals meet their energy needs. A range of case studies, lively debates and presentations will cover everything from achieving buy-in to energy savings to demystifying the role of behaviour change in energy management, and key drivers of energy efficiency and the plan to make it happen.
Speakers confirmed to take part include Matt Fulford, head of Low Carbon Buildings for Sustain, Allan Barton, global waste business leader at Arup, Dr Andy Lewry, principal consultant for the Sustainable Energy Team at BRE and Myles McCarthy of the Carbon Trust Implementation Services.
Each day a lunch time discussion will bring together energy professionals to debate key topics including the best ways to achieve energy efficiency now and in the future, delivering energy efficiency – getting your company and staff engaged – and how can energy management really make a difference?
Exhibitors
Facilities Show has more exhibitors, education, networking opportunities and interactive features incorporated than ever before. Along with the Energy Management Theatre, the Facilities Show will host the Facilities Show Seminar Theatre, The CPD Theatre, the Networking Hub and the Field Service Management Theatre as part of Service Management Expo.
New exhibitors at the show this year will include Credo NOBO, Dyson and Miko Coffee. The 2013 event will again bring together facilities, estate and property managers with suppliers from across the full spectrum of the FM supply chain.
The launch last year of the FMA Village proved to be a huge draw for visitors and this will return, with representatives from some of the industry’s biggest names. In 2012 experts from Compass Group, MITIE Client Services, Norland Managed Services, ETDE and SGP Property & Facilities Management amongst others were on hand throughout the show to help FMs discuss their strategy and future plans and explore the ‘one stop shop’ option.

As part of Protection & Management Week, Facilities Show 2013 is co-located with the leading annual safety and health event, Safety and Health Expo and the world’s largest annual security event, IFSEC. In 2013 FIREX International will also be co-located.
