EMCOR UK has been awarded, and completed, a project at a UK museum, visitor attraction and science research centre in South Kensington, London, to remove an old lighting system and install a new, energy efficient LED track lighting system in the Bird Gallery.
Since 2001, EMCOR UK has been providing specialist facilities management services for the museum, at its visitor facilities in South Kensington and Tring, and storage sites in South London. Throughout this time, the scope of EMCOR UK’s responsibilities has evolved and developed considerably to meet the museum’s changing requirements. Removing the old lighting and upgrading with a new energy efficient lighting system in the Bird Gallery required EMCOR UK to manoeuver within a Grade 1 listed heritage facility, and work to a short timeframe and a reasonable budget. This involved ensuring that sufficient light was available throughout the project, as the exhibit was open to the public for the entirety of the project.
