As energy costs continue to rise and impact upon the bottom line of many UK organisations, the spotlight is firmly on energy management professionals to provide sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
As the coalition government endeavours to deliver on its commitment for a low carbon economy by 2050, there has never been such an important time get up to speed on the latest legislation, training and technologies surrounding renewable energy and microgeneration.
Ecobuild 2013 will feature leading companies showcasing the latest innovations in solar (commercial and domestic), bioenergy, combined heat & power (CHP), building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), heat pumps and small scale wind technology.
Education
Designed to inspire, educate and inform, the Ecobuild Arena returns to the exhibition floor and will host key industry speakers, ministers, lecturers and academics as well as a sprinkling of celebrity speakers and hosts.
Featuring a series of debates, high level discussion and answering questions such as The Green Deal – will it deliver? Is it the end of the road for zero Carbon? Why sustainable design should be irresistible design? And, what’s the future of fracking? The conference will focus on all the pressing issues facing the industry.
In 2013, Ecobuild will also offer a fully CPD accredited educational programme which will include a 12 stream, three day seminar programme featuring an additional 700 speakers. With a focus on practical case study learning, technical detail, policy guidance updates from key associations and the latest academic thinking, the broad ranging programme covers a plethora of subjects, including brand new for 2013 – Water, Waste and Recycling. The perennial favourites will also return including Better Through BIM and Standards, Guides and Regulations.
Attractions
Out on the show floor there are dozens of informative attractions and demonstrations for energy managers. New for 2013 is The Green Deal Terrace, which will provide a comprehensive advice clinic set-up to help visitors understand the ramifications from the government’s showcase policy.
As government support for renewable heat progresses, Ecobuild’s Renewable Heat Focus feature returns for 2013 to de-mystify and highlight the opportunities available through the coalition’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme (RHI).
Catering for both the commercial and domestic solar markets, Ecobuild represents a vast range of solar solutions from on-roof, to semi-integrated to fully roof integrated products, and features the latest technologies from leading modules manufacturers.
At Ecobuild 2013, energy managers can learn about the future of energy at Ecobuild’s reinvented Solar Hub. Sponsored by Rexel, this feature will provide a series of free to attend talks and presentations, plus one-to-one advice from a range of industry experts.
Lighting
As a major consumer of electricity in commercial buildings, lighting should be a top energy saving priority. As such, brand new for 2013, Ecobuild’s Light Box area will showcase the very best energy efficient lighting products.
Alan Macklin of the Eta Group, said, “The timing of Ecobuild is very pertinent for anybody involved in HVAC as it will be hard on the heels of the new ErP legislation being introduced on 1st January 2013. This is a significant move in addressing the energy efficiency of fans, a vital element in a building’s energy performance given that the biggest consumer of electricity in the UK is motor driven systems, with approximately 22% of industrial motor energy usage being attributable to fans.”
