Mid-2017, the currently under construction SEA Tours-Bordeaux High Speed Lane will reduce the Journey time between Paris and Bordeaux from 3 to 2 hours. This project, exceptional from a technical, environmental and human perspective is also the largest infrastructure contract currently under way in Europe.

This new high-speed line will reinforce the trans-European route which connects the Northern areas and Eastern Europe to the Southwest of France and Spain thru the Atlantic coast. By providing population mobility in the regions crossed, the HSL will definitively structure the future large province of Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes Limousin.

The line concessionaire LISEA, mobilised all necessary expertise to conduct this project.

HSL Maintenance & Operations: the choice of CARL Source CMMS and CARL Touch Mobility

The HSL maintenance and operation will be carried out by MESEA (South Europe Atlantique Maintenance & Operations) from four maintenance stations, still under construction in the cities of Nouâtre-Maillé (French department 37), Poitiers (French department 86) Villognon (French department 16) and Clérac (French department 17). MESEA workers will be in charge of monitoring and of maintaining tracks, catenaries and signaling of the High Speed Lane.

To execute this operation MESEA has chosen CARL Source CMMS. For the maintainer, CARL Source has many advantages such as being perfectly tailored to transportation specific functions and with ergonomics valued by users. Moreover, CARL Touch with its deployment on smartphones and tablets will allow technicians to combine performance and mobility when doing their job. Field technicians will use geolocation to access equipment to be maintained, get assistance in the field, enter reports in real time, manage spare parts and so on.

CARL Software is in charge of CARL Source and CARL Touch integration and will also contribute in the data recovery and integration of GEOMAP (the Geographic Information System)
Start of production is planned for July 2017. At that time, all 150 MESEA users will be able to perform their work using CARL Source Transport to:

· Maintain linear assets (management of nodes , segments of the railway network and kilometric references)

· Manage equipment (bridges, railroad switches, catenary, signals etc.)

· Manage preventive and regulatory maintenance

· Schedule resources

· Manage documentation

· Optimise stock and purchasing processes

· Monitor budget in connection with an ERP
